Je suis nee a Ougree, le 2 octobre 1958. Mon pere etait ouvrier a Cockerill, syndicaliste, soucieux de politique et aujourd'hui encore ma fierte est grande de l'avoir vu devenir bourgmestre de Seraing et etre un des rares ouvriers a avoir siege dans notre Parlement J'ai vecu une enfance qui fut belle, meme si elle ne fut jamais confortable. Ma mere devait elever ses six enfants, dans des conditions qui n'etaient guere simples, et je suis heureuse de la voir aujourd'hui arrivee au port, en paix, pouvant enfin s'offrir les loisirs de la vie J'etais une bonne eleve a l'ecole, ce qui m'a permis d'entrer a l'Universite de Liege. Je me souviens encore de ce professeur de premiere candidature me disant que vu la maniere dont je m'exprimais, je ne devais pas esperer reussir. Cinq ans plus tard pourtant, je devenais avocate et j'ai aime ce metier, que j'ai abandonne apres plus de 10 ans de pratique. Parallelement, je dispensais des cours de droit social dans le cadre d'etudes de sciences administratives.

Puis ce fut la politique et tout a ete si vite. Je suis devenue deputee a 30 ans. En 1991, je presidais la commission de la Justice de la Chambre, dont j'etais egalement la Vice-Presidente. En 1992, je suis devenue ministre federale, chargee de l'Integration sociale, de la Sante publique et de l'Environnement avant de finir la legislature comme Ministre-Presidente de la Communaute francaise. Entre 1995 et 1999, je continuai a assumer ces fonctions, mais avec des competences beaucoup plus etendues, et notamment a l'enseignement. Ce furent des annees dures. Nous n'avions pas le choix car la Communaute etait au bord de la faillite. Qui a oublie la crise de l'enseignement et les affrontements auxquels elle a donne lieu ?

En 1999, je suis devenue Vice-Premiere ministre et ministre de l'Emploi.

Ce furent quatre annees passionnantes pendant lesquelles tous les jours il a fallu ferrailler mais ou a l'heure des bilans, les socialistes dont je suis le chef de file au federal, peuvent, je crois, se regarder dans la glace avec le sentiment du devoir accompli, meme si nous savons tous que chaque jour, le combat continue Bruxelloise d'adoption, j'accede en 1999 a la presidence de Beliris, l'accord de cooperation entre l'Etat federal et la Region de Bruxelles-Capitale. En tant que capitale de la Belgique et de l'Europe, Bruxelles doit relever un double defi : offrir a celles et ceux qui l'habitent un cadre de vie aussi agreable que possible tout en assumant pleinement son role de metropole internationale. Beliris soutient Bruxelles dans cette demarche par le financement de diverses initatives (chantiers mobilite, renovation du patrimoine, revitalisation des quartiers, etc.).

De juillet 2003 a decembre 2007, je poursuis mon action au gouvernement federal en tant que Vice-Premiere ministre et ministre de la Justice. Du 21 decembre 2007 au 20 mars 2008, j'ai assume la fonction de Ministre federale des Affaires sociales et de la Sante publique au sein du gouvernement interimaire "Verhofstadt III". Le 20 mars 2008, le gouvernement "Leterme Ier" prete serment devant le Roi. J'y exerce la fonction de Vice-Premiere ministre et Ministre des Affaires sociales et de la Sante publique.
Bien sur, dans toutes ces lignes et ces dates, il manque la seve de ma vie, la vie qui n'appartient qu'a moi, mes trois enfants et mon mari Il y a ce bonheur prive qui est mon socle, mais dont rien d'autre ne doit etre dit ici.

 

Laurette A.J. Onkelinx (born October 2, 1958) is a Belgian politician from the Francophone Socialist Party . She is the current Minister of Social Affairs and Public Health in the Belgian federal government , i.e. the Van Rompuy I Government , which took office on December 30, 2008. [ 1 ]

She graduated in law at the University of Liege after which she worked as a lawyer for 10 years. At the age of 30 she was elected to the Belgian Chamber of Representatives .

In October 2007 Laurette Onkelinx stunned public opinion by comparing the Flemish (60% of the Belgian population) with ' merules ' (a type of fungus ) that threaten the country. [ 2 ]

She is considered to be the most powerful woman in Belgian politics and viewed as a potential successor to the Parti socialiste 's chairperson Elio Di Rupo . Her father, Gaston Onkelinx , originally a Dutch-speaking migrant from Flemish Limburg to francophone Wallonia , has long been mayor of Seraing (near Liege ) and member of the House of Representatives (1974-1987). Her older brother, Alain Onkelinx, has been a member of the Regional Parliament of Wallonia since September 2005.

First elected to the Belgian House of Representatives in 1988 , she has since held several ministerial posts:

(born 3 June 1963 in Ronse ) is a Belgian socialist politician who served as Minister for Social Affairs and Public Health , in the Belgian federal government from 2003 to 2007. On 19 July 2007, he was appointed Minister-President of Wallonia , replacing Elio Di Rupo , one month after an historical defeat of the socialists in the federal election. On 20 March 2008, he was also appointed Minister-President of the French Community , replacing Marie Arena .

Of mixed Flemish and Walloon ascent, Rudy Demotte is one of the few Walloon politicians to be perfectly bilingual in French and Dutch.

From 1988 to 1990 he served on the cabinet of the Minister of Social Affairs. He was first elected to the Belgian House of Representatives in 1995 and was reflected in 1999 and 2003. In 1999, he became the federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Scientific Research. In 2002, he became the Minister for Budget, Culture and Sport of the French Community of Belgium . In July 2003, he became Minister for Social Affairs and Public Health in the federal government.

Having served as a council member from 1994 on, he became mayor of Flobecq in 2000.
